How did my day start today? My lovely mission parents, Elder and Sister Clare, brought us over some homemade peanut and walnut clusters. They were divine.
This week.
This whole week we were preparing the girls for their baptism, which was amazing, but we will talk about that later. I want to share with you a quote that was said but the 12 year old that got baptized. We were going over the baptismal questions with her and were on the subject of the law of the tithe and she was explaining to us in her own words. "Sometimes I make $5 dollars and sometimes I don't. So I think I'll just pay $1 a week just to be safe." She is just the sweetest. After she got up out of the water Hermana Jacks and I were able to share a tender moment with her. I wish ya'll could meet her... She gives the best grizzly bear hugs.
We went on a temple tour this Friday with the girls and her mom and they loved it. Everything was perfect. The weather. The sunset. The Spirit. Everything. Hermana Mejia said that as soon as she approached the door she felt the Spirit stronger than ever before and she is preparing for the day when she gets to enter it. We are working with her and her boyfriend since that is the issue we are dealing with, but he attended the baptism and was able to actually interact with us, so that's a plus. We spent Saturday morning preparing for the baptism by making 200+ tamales. Sometimes I feel like I actually have Hispanic blood running through my veins.
Hermana Jacks and I were able to
President Berry has been having a huge push for working with the members. Yeah, it's a little hard with the members in the Spanish group... here are some classic excuses we heard this week for why can't they meet with us.
Hermana ?: "Sisters I can't meet with you today..."
Us: "Oh can we come by next week?"
Hermana ?: "Well actually I am going on a vacation."
Us: "Oh where are you going?"
Hermana ?: "I'm actually staying home sweet home..."
Yes, that happened, but the following is even better.
Hermano M: "Mis corazones I can't meet with you today!"
Us: "Ohhh nooo why?"
Hermano M: "USA is playing Portugal!"
Me: "USA USA USA!!!!"
FIFA is taking over the work. Let's go 'Merica.
Nonetheless the work is slowly but surely hastening over here. I am so grateful for the work. I am constantly being reminded of how much our Heavenly Father loves us. I had never felt His love more in my life than when I saw those two girls go down into the waters of baptisms. I have been given so many blessings from this gospel and now they are able to receive the same blessings, if not more. His love is real.
I love you all. I would write more, but my whole district is covered in shaving cream from a shaving cream fight we had so we have gots to go. CTR.
Con amor,
Hermana Brooks
