But I am really sad I am leaving so soon. I had to say goodbye to the Mejia family. Hermana Mejia still isn't ready to be baptized, but she loves the gospel. It seems like just yesterday I was telling the story of how we had to chase down her chihuahua for a good 30 minutes. The girls are doing GREAT! They are going to girls camp this month and are way excited.
Hermana Jacks and I had the coolest experience this week. We were riding in a near by neighborhood and see this middle age man just walking so we start talking to him asking him how his day is going. He was just about to tell us it was crappy and then tried to cover it up real fast, but then we got him talking. He expressed how the day before we met him he and his wife were going to get a divorce and all these other life problems were going on. We quickly whipped out our super handy dandy iPads and played "Mountains to Climb". At the end of the video we look up and this grown man is bawling in front of us. He told us that the day before he met us he had cursed God for everything that is going on out of anger and that he could never be forgiven. We explained to him how much our Heavenly Father loves each of his children, the most vile of sinner and the most perfect saint. Then he looked into our eyes and said, "Thank you. I now know and remember that I am loved by God." Ahh one of the most satisfying moments.
That is it. Hermana Jackson and I had too many miracles and good times, hence why they are splitting us up. This past week we once again ran out of miles so here we are riding 20 miles a day for the past 3 days. Yeah any doubts of me gaining weight on my mission is impossible. If it isn't from bike riding it is from sweating. This week we were riding and it hit me. Out of all the things I could be doing or "enjoying" in those moments of extreme heat, I am here in Orlando serving my Heavenly Father and my Brothers and Sisters and I LOVE IT.
It is officially storm season here and the lightning is wicked. I will leave it at that.
So many funny things happened this past week, but I will just tell you the funniest. We are in a lesson with a part member family and the dad is less-active and Hermana Jacks is sharing her testimony and he interrupts her and points to me and says "I see your future".... wait what? "You are going to be in the FBI".... yeah that happened. I was hoping for more of the dental or nursing route, but hey FBI agent sounds good to me.
Until next week,Hermana Brooks
