I love my companion! Let me just say we are possibly the funniest humans ever. I have another story to humor ya'll this week... so recently we have been talking a lot about the Second Coming and keep hearing about the crazy things going on in the world. Earthquakes. Venezuela. Russia/ Ukraine. Everything else in between and at least once a day it gets brought up. Well the nastiest storm was here a few nights ago and I woke up to the loudest thunder of my life at like 2am. Needless to say Hermana Allred and I just assumed that the Second Coming was occurring. You could only imagine ourselves as we turned up the volume on our phone waiting for the zone leaders text to say we needed to evacuate or something. Also, we may or may not have possibly seen a UFO this week, so yeah life is just the best in Orlando.
This week was once again full of miracles. We aren't sure as to why we are receiving so many, but we sure are so thankful.Maybe it is because good ole Hermana "TodoRojo" and I are working so hard. We were able to pick up 10 investigators this week, some being referrals and others being contacts we had found. The referrals we have received are the most prepared people I think I have ever met. The father in one of the family had expressed to us that he has been trying to find peace his whole life, but has been unable to find it. The other father is married to a less active member of our ward and he has expressed to her that he wants to get baptized and is not only setting an example for his cute little kids, but the less active mom is coming back as well. They are driving down to the Ft. Lauderdale open house sometime this month and are way excited!
"Men and women who turn their lives over to God will discover that He can make a lot more out of their lives than they can. He will deepen their joys, expand their vision, quicken their minds, strengthen their muscles, lift their spirits, multiply their blessings, increase their opportunities, comfort their souls, raise up friends, and pour out peace." - Pres. Ezra Taft Benson
Who wouldn't want God in their life? I know this quote to be true. Never in my life had I had so much joy. I have been able to really understand who I am as a person and the potential that I have. It's so easy to get in a routine of things on the mission, but I have seen that as we have put for a little more effort than the week before, get out of our comfort a little more each day and try a little harder to be a little better, than we truly can reach the potential that He has for us. Not only as missionaries, but as daughters of God. The Sisters of the Church are truly wonderful. If you didn't have a chance to watch the Women' Conference this weekend I encourage you all to do so (especially you mom!). On my mission I have had a lot of time to reflect on the person that I am and the person I want to be... some of the qualities are in both people right now, but I am working every day to be the person that I want to be. It's a struggle let me tell ya!
Also, Saturday we were out and about contacting and it was raining so hard, but as missionaries those are the best moments, especially when you have a companion who just loves life. We get to this one potential investigators house and the rain is coming down as we are talking to her and her floor is getting all wet and proceeds to tell us that we are crazy and there is a tornado warning.... in Florida.... No wonder all of our thoughts are based upon the Second Coming. We also got a third bed and desk put into our house this week so it looks like we will be getting put into a tri at transfers next week. Wish us luck! Hey, hey, hey, General Conference is this weekend and I am SO EXCITED!!! Ya'll better be too!
Con amor siempre,
Hermana Brooks
PS. Nellie! Thank you so much for my teddy bear. We think she is just the cutest thing!
