Sorry this is going to be a bore because not that much happened, but boy
the stuff that did happen was crazy cool.
If you know me then you know I am not one to get up and say a prayer in
front of 800+ people let alone in Spanish, but that's what happens when you
become friends with the MTC Presidente. He lived a year in Las Vegas before
coming here and although he doesn't remember my name most of the time he
calls me Red Rock, so with a connection like that you bet I said the opening
prayer at Sunday devotional. That devotional was very special because all us Orlando, FL
missionaries sang "Nearer My God to Thee" in Spanish and it was so
beautiful.
I also got a letter from Presidente Barry and can't believe that in less
than a week I will be meeting him. I honestly do not know where the time has
gone, I love it here. And hate it at the same. It's kind of like P90X... you
hate it, but you love it. (Dad that reference was to you). I cannot wait to find
out where I will be serving, anyone want to take guesses? We shall find out soon
enough. We will also find out how up to par my Spanish is. I am feeling pretty
confident in teaching and praying and bearing testimony and some small random
phrases. I have also learned some Spanish jokes from the Natives and would love
to share them with you all, but you guys wouldn't understand. It's a missionary
thing. :)
I just got back from going to the temple for the last time and bought the
coolest scripture cases for my Spanish set. Cameron, you'd be so proud, pictures
to come.
This week was quite the struggle with Nancy our investigator. She seems to
just not get it and it's super frustrating because she does so good and
then will take 5 steps back. Not too long passed until we had a lesson on
AGENCY, which was greatly needed. Agency is such a great gift we have received
from our Heavenly Father, but we are only responsible for our own. That is
something I have been working on this week and I am learning to accept that I
can only do so much as a missionary and the rest is left in the hands of the
investigator and the Lord. Agency and Satan go hand in hand, I was reading a
talk from Elder Robert D. Hales and he said "... the adversary cannot make us do
anything. He does lie at our door, as the scriptures say, and he follows us each
day. Every time, we go out, every decision we make, we are either choosing to move
in his direction or in the direction of our Savior. The only time he can affect
our minds and bodies--our very spirits--is when we allow him to do so." I know
that faith and obedience strengthens our agency, but we need to do our part and
follow the Savior. Quick grab yo scriptures! 3 Nefi 9:2
I don't have that much more time and nothing else to say, but I pray for
you all everyday and see the difference it is making not only in my life, but
your guys' as well. Keep doing what your doing and remember to DOUBT YOUR
DOUBTS BEFORE YOU DOUBT YOUR FAITH! Love President Uchtdorf, he's the man.
Love you all,
Hermana Brooks
Ps. I will probably be emailing Saturday night to tell you about my plans for flying.
I think I leave Monday, but I am not sure yet.
Pps. Ether 12:6 loooove it
Ppps. Now I am answering individual emails so yeah adios.
