We have 2 new investigators! This is big news in good ole' Valencia North and I am so so so excited. I wish I could say my Spanish was up to par with my excitement, but it's getting there. So as I have said before, the work here is soooo rough and our area is HUGE. We cover Sanford, Lake Mary, Altamonte Springs, Casselberry, Winter Springs, Oviedo and I think that's it. Our ward is split into two areas- Valencia North and Valencia South. The Elderes cover the south, but after a lot of talks with the mission president he has decided to move our area down with the Elderes and split the area in two. Super exciting because the Latino population is much bigger down there. Unfortunately, we are only allowed to eat at members houses in our area so we aren't going to be getting fed that often, but I would starve if it meant bringing people unto Christ.
Before I left on my mission everyone told me that "obedience brings blessings, while exact obedience brings miracles" and boy is this true. It's easy being obedient, but it's not the easiest being perfectly obedient. It's something that I work on each and everyday, but I have seen miracles bestowed upon me when me and my companion are doing exactly what we are supposed to be doing. We were at Stake Correlation last Sunday and a bishop said something that really hit home for me... "he who sweats the most in peacetime, bleeds the least in wartime." The same with missionary work. We eat at families house almost everyday and as much as my companion would love to stay and play games with the family I remind her that there are better things we could be doing. I think that one of the hardest things for me has been stepping up as a leader because if I don't things don't really get accomplished. So it's been a struggle, but I am learning and growing a lot.
Our cutie old couple we are teaching are the best and are really interested. They are 7th Day Adventists, but slowly are becoming Latter-Day Saints... shhh. We are meeting with them Thursday and teaching them the rest of The Restoration. Crossing my fingers that the gift of tongues will help me out there. We are also meeting with this lady and her family I found one day while tracting.
I love families. And I love my family. I am so grateful for the knowledge that I have that families can be together FOREVER. Sorry to everyone who has to live with me for eternity... you're just going to have to deal with it.
Con amor,
Hermana Brooks
Ps. I hear there are all these things going on in the world. Typhoons? Tornadoes? The Second Coming? Bring it on.
