Ah remember the awesome family we found a week or so ago well..... I there is a part 2 today. Brace yourselves.
I am not sure if I have mentioned this before but we are teaching English classes once a week. Yikes! To publicize this we go around to random shopping centers and pass out our handy dandy flyers... well we were in this random shopping center and we weren't finding any stores until we went around a corner and saw a Colombian.. yes Colombian... hamburger place. It was obviously my love for the country and the Spirit telling me we needed to go in there. We get in there and talk with the first worker we see. After introducing it to ourselves she interrupts us and asks in Spanish "do you know a Gustavo so and so?" Aka the name of the dad of this super cool family. Why yes, yes we do. She goes on to say she his wife!! We were able to talk with her for a few minutes and she said that he was actually on his way to bring her something. So we had this awesome reunion with the whole family, which was a huge blessing for us because we didn't know if it was going to be awkward or not meeting her on Friday and who knows what would have happened. We ended up having the greatest lesson on the Plan of Salvation (the best lesson) with the whole family and they had a ton of questions for us. At the end of the lesson me and my companion were testifying of the Book of Mormon and he looked at us and said something along the lines of "you guys have been telling me to read this and every time I was just like yeah I will get around to it, but something told me to read it. That I need to ask if it is true." And that is why I am missionary. That is why I was called to serve in Orlando, Florida. And that is why I am learning a new language, so these people can learn of this great message and how they can be together FOREVER.
Me and my companion are goofballs and crack ourselves up all the time. This week the joke has been "if ye had the chance to.... (fill in the blank)... would ya?" For those who have seen Brave you know what I am talking about, but it is total relevant for today because it's St. Patrick's Day. If you had the chance to be baptized today.... would ya? Haha we are laughing right now.
Dad, you would be so proud of me, I am the scripture wizard. My companera loves me for it.
Mom, a family here fed us a chicken gizzard dish the other night. Fortunately, they said it was optional to eat it. I am grateful you liked them enough to make them so I could know what an actual gizzard was. No, I didn't eat them.
Mom and Dad, we have had many opportunities to share some family history stories with temple work and genealogy and I know like zero. Could you find out some and send them to me? Aka ask my grandparents and great grandparents of some stories. That would be the best.
We are working so hard, I lay my head on my pillow and it feels as though I have slept for a solid 2 minutes, but that is okay because in reality my time here is so short. I will sleep when the whole central area of Florida is baptized... till then hello bags under my eyes. The people of Florida truly are the best. The weather this time of year is beautiful.
This week we are going to try and work well with the leaders of our ward. Our ward seems so willing to put forth the effort, but after a few weeks the fire starts to dwindle, but this week we are going to get them excited again. By the looks of things I might be staying another transfer.... if ye had the chance to be in the same area for a good 7 months would ya? YES!!
Everything else is going just great. I'll be praying for the loved ones I got informed about today.
Com amor siempre,
Hermana Brooks
