"And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name." Acts 5:41
Probably my favorite line of my Bible study this week. Sometimes I like to take a step back and see how the world sees us as we go around talking with people on the streets. Like it must seem weird and even bizarre that two young 20 year old girls are walking around in trailer parks and apartment complexes talking about Jesus Christ. I have no shame. I love my Savior and I want every one to know it. Also, please appreciate the lion picture attached that was hanging on a tree outside a trailer.... #supaclassy
Hermana Moody reminds me at least 5 times a day that we are missionaries. Oh what it would be like to be a greenie all over again... But let me tell you about the little verdecita. Hermana Moody. She is from Mesa, Arizona, but was raised in a ton of different states. She has worked at Coldstone and Waffle House. She has 6 siblings and is the first one in her family to go on a mission. She LOVES being a missionary, like I said, I'm reminded on an hourly basis that we are missionaries. It has been the biggest blessing and greatest reminder of how sacred and awesome our calling is. I've also convinced her my name is now HerMAMA Brooks and so it is.
We set two baptismal dates this week!!! The first with a young man who moved in (from Chile) with his family who are all members of the church. He is the first Hispanic I have met who legitimately dislikes the Catholic Church for his own reasons, but he is way cool and really just wants to know the truth. In my former missionary life I would have wanted to serve in a YSA ward, but now not so much, it's terrifying. Give me my 70 year olds back! Jajjaja
Then we have Hector, one of my most favorite investigators I have ever taught. It's actually a way cool story how he found the church. He's going through a divorce right now and was at work one day and asked a coworker to go and get some drinks with him. The guy rejected him saying he doesn't drink and after a discussion about his beliefs and what not Hector was interesting in learning about this mans church. So he came to church and has been coming since November. He has a gazillion and three questions every time we teach him and is a absorbing everything. He previously just asked if we could make him a chart of everyone and their callings in church starting with the prophet down to the bishop........... Yeah let us get right on that..... Pray that they make it to their date on January 11th, por favor.
I love my mission. I love who it has made me. I love my perspective on life and others. I love Christmas. I still love rice. I love every one of YOU.
See ya soon! Like really really soon!
Con amor, Hermana Brooks
Ps. I got told this week I reminded someone of their friend from Colombia. Vive Colombia!
Pps. I also got told I looked like I was from Utah yesterday. The specifically said I had the "Utah look".....Worst day ever.
