Well, once again another week has just flown by. But I have a lot to fill you in on so I shall begin.
So, this week we had a Christmas Devotional with the whole mission and it was thee best. I got to see everyone from the CCM and it was a breath of fresh air. Hermana Gruber is still my home girl and we are still praying for the day when we get to be companions again. In a few weeks we will be moving areas and splitting the area with los elderes and the work down there is doing awesome that is way exciting. However, me or my companion are getting transferred next transfer, I'm hoping I am staying. I love it here. Stay tuned for more deets on my soon-to-be companion. Woot woot! Presidente Berry also announced that we are now able to attend the temple twice a year (in January and July). WHAT A BLESSING. I was so bummed when I got here and heard we weren't allowed to attend the temple, but the heavens have opened and everyone is so excited. Especially me, I am so grateful for the time I was able to spend there before I left.
I wish I had new investigators I could talk about, but unfortunately this week our efforts were put into tracting and we didn't have that much luck. We have a few potentials, but we seem to have this common denominator with everyone who is "interested".... they're old men. Barf sauce. We are praying to find a solid family, but unfortunately all Hispanic families here are really strong Catholics who do not give us the time of day. So until then, we will keep knocking on doors until we find that "golden" family. Don't be afraid to share the gospel back home.
"There are times when we have to step into darkness in faith, confident that God will place solid ground beneath our feet once we do." - President Uchtdorf.
President Uchtdorf is the man, and this quote pretty much sums up Valencia Norte. This area is hard, really really hard, but so rewarding and makes me so grateful for that one person we do find and for the contacts everyday where we can share our testimony of our Savior. I recently went on exchanges with the Sister Training Leaders (aka the coolest Sisters ever) and me and Sister Schmidt had planned for a day full of contacting 15+ potentials. Every single person was either not home or we couldn't get in contact with, but our last attempt was at a man's apartment they had contacted awhile back and we were praying so hard for him to be home and ya know what? He had moved away.... but the person living there now is a solid potential. The Lord truly is preparing people and I am so grateful for the time I have to serve here in Orlando.
I can't wait to talk with you guys on Christmas. What a treat! Thanks for all the love and support I receive each and every week. It means the world to me.
Con amor,
Hermana Brooks
Ps. I have yet to gain any weight since being out. So far I am beating the typical sister statistic. Just in case any of you were worried...
Pss. This is a picture of me and our investigator. He's basically the shortest person ever. I promise I am not some freakishly large giant.
